Maryland Climate Change Summit – July 25th

Greenhouse gas emissionsMaryland Governor Martin O’Malley is holding a summit meeting for leading scientists, renewable business leaders, and climate change policy experts on July 25th at the Maritime Institute. The discussions at the summit will focus “on the progress Maryland has made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change along with the important actions that still need to be taken to meet our goals.” A morning panel discussion moderated by Governor O’Malley will be followed by lunch and a keynote presentation by Vicki Arroyo, Executive Director of the Georgetown Climate Center. There will also be sessions on Advocating, Messaging, and Planning for Adaptation and Green Economic Opportunities.

The state of Maryland and Governor Martin O’Malley are moving forward with a plan that aims to reduce greenhouse gases 25 percent by 2020. The state of Maryland has a very cool tracker that shows the progress the state has made in reducing emissions. Check it out here.
