Andy Corral, Trainer, Green Building Manager
As the Green Building Manager for Elysian Energy, Andy works with builders and architects in the DC Metropolitan area to achieve specific green building certifications (PassiveHouse, LEED for Home, Energy Star, and others), and meet changing code requirements. Andy began working for Elysian Energy in 2008 as a Residential Energy Auditor and accepted the position of Green Building Manager in 2011.
While at Elysian, Andy has become an expert in the field of residential energy efficiency, becoming a LEED for Homes Green Rater, a HERS Quality Assurance Designee and a trainer for BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional designations.
Andy graduated from Bucknell University in 2008 with degrees in Economics and Environmental Studies. While not at work, he can be found running in the parks of DC, playing soccer, or at a baseball game.
Ruth Ann Scoles, Training Coordinator and Curriculum Developer
Ruth Ann became hooked on energy issues while taking Sustainable Energy in college. The course didn’t apply toward her Chemistry B.A. at University of Rochester, but it did change her mind about climate change and catalyze her career trajectory. For three years, Ruth Ann taught Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Physics in DC and Fairfax County Public Schools. She infused her students with an excitement for energy topics including “Smart Grids” and “Wind Turbines” to enhance dry state learning standards like “…investigate and understand that energy can be transferred and transformed to provide usable work.”
A guest physicist inspired Ruth Ann to pursue her interests outside the classroom, so she joined Elysian Energy in May 2012 as an after-school intern. A year later, she is designing our training curricula and coordinating the growth of our new Training Department and Training Center. Ruth Ann is a BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional, holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from American University, was a Clean Energy Intern with DC think tank Third Way, and is a student in the Clean Energy Leadership Institute.
